- DESCRIPTION: The U.S. Coast Guard intends TO PROCURE CONTRACTOR SUPPLIES AND SERVICES TO ADD ADDITIONAL COVERAGE TO THE BASE SUPPORT UNIT MIAMI BEACH CCTV INTRUSION DETECTION SYSTEM. The proposed contract action is for supplies AND services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with WESTERN VIDEO INCORPORATED under the authority of FAR 6.302. THIS ADDITION IS A FOLLOW-ON TO AN ALREADY EXISTING SYSTEM. AS A RESULT, DUE TO THE DIFFICULTIES IN ADDING ADDITIONAL EQUIPMENT WHICH WOULD REQUIRE THE ITEMS TO BE CERTIFIED TO BE COMPATIBLE WITH THE CURRENT SYSTEM, THE COAST GUARD IS SOLICITING THE CONTRACTOR WHICH INSTALLED THE ORIGINAL SYSTEM. SOLICITING OUTSIDE SOURCE WOULD NOT BE FEASABLE AS A COMPREHENSIVE UNDERSTANDING OF THE CURRENT SYSTEM AND COMPONENTS WOULD BE REQUIRED. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. A determination by the Government not to compete with this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
