- This requirement is for the repair of a Digital Memory Device (DMD), NSN: 5895-01-555-7724, qty 15. The DMD is used to support the F/A-18 E/F aircraft. This requirement is for the repair of an item where Harris Corporation (91417) is the only approved repair source. The time required for approval of a new source is normally such that an award cannot be delayed pending approval of a new source. Sources that are not approved for repair or manufacture of this item must submit the information detailed in http://www.neco.navy.mil/sar.cfm, Source Approval Information Brochure. This brochure identifies technical data required to be submitted based on your company's experience in the production or repair of the same or similar items, or if this is an item your company has not previously manufactured or repaired. This brochure can be obtained by calling NAVICP Phila at 215-697-4243. You may also obtain this information online by searching for "source approval request" at www.navsup.navy.mil. The design of this part is unstable. Engineering, manufacturing, or performance characteristics indicate that the required design objectives have not been achieved. Major changes are contemplated because the part has a low process yield or has demonstrated marginal performance during tests or service use. These changes will render the present part obsolete and unusable in its present configuration. Limited acquisition from the present source is anticipated pending configuration changes.
