- Description
- The National Cancer Institute (NCI), Center for Cancer Research (CCR) plans to procure on a sole source basis technical support for the Illumina Genome Analyzer (s/n 300204), Illumina Bead Station (s/n S149) and Illumina Cluster Station (s/n 100670) from Illumina, Inc; 9885 Towne Centre Dr., San Diego, CA 92121-1975. This acquisition will be processed in accordance with simplified acquisition procedures as stated in FAR Part 13.106-1 (b)(1). The North American Industry Classification System code is 811219 and the business size standard is $7.0 M dollars. The Genetics Branch (GB) of the Center for Cancer Research at the National Cancer Institute is engaged in the study of cancer genetics. By using ultra-high throughput, next generation sequencing, and whole-genome high-resolution beadchip reagents, the GB are able to study DNA/promoter interactions, gene expressions, methylation status, single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP), and investigate genomic rearrangements with the Illumina Genome Analyzer or BeadArray Reader at the resolution and informatics levels never before possible. Period of Performance shall be twelve months from date of award. The contractor shall provide One preventative maintenance inspection by technically qualified factory-trained personnel with emergency repair services on an unlimited basis and unlimited telephone support. Personnel shall have a minimum of three (3) years factory training and experience in the servicing the Illumina equipment. Illumina is the only company with the ability to service the Illumina Genome Analyzer, Bead Station and Cluster Station currently in the lab. Illumina is the sole source manufacturer of this equipment and is the sole source provider for the service of this instrument. For these reasons, there is no other source known to the NCI capable of performing the maintenance needed on the instruments referenced in this procurement. This is not a request for competitive quotation. However, if any interested party believes it can perform the above requirement, it may submit a statement of capabilities. The statement of capabilities and any other furnished information must be in writing and must contain material in sufficient detail to allow NCI to determine if the party can perform this requirement. Capability statements must be received in the contracting office on or before 11:00 AM ET, August 18, 2010. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. No collect calls will be accepted. In order to receive an award, contractors must be registered in and have valid certification in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) and the Online Representations and Certifications Application (ORCA).
