Description
NASA/GSFC has a requirement for services to upgrade/enhance the performance ofexisting COMSOL Multiphysics computation design tool to simulate and design microwavecomponents and heating effects caused by mocrowave energy on their performances. the HeatTransfer Module that runs on the COMSOL MultiPhysics platform will allow the study ofmicrowave heating effects and deformation due to heating in microwave components andtheir effects on radiation performance. The Microwave Instrument technology Branch has alicense to use COMSOL's basic platform tool to perform multiphysics engineeringsimulations at various RF frequencies.Also, there are no other vendors that provideonly the heat transfer module that will run on the COMSOL platform.NASA/GSFC intends to purchase the items from Intelligent Automation, Inc. only.Authority is FAR 13.106B(1) Only one source reasonably available.This procurement will be processed using FAR Part 13 Simplified Acquisition Procedures.The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12.This synopsis shall not be construed as a commitment by the Government, nor will theGovernment pay for the information solicited.Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform theeffort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local timeon August 13, 2010. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for thepurpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and opencompetition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretionof the government.Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice.All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency.An Ombudsman has been appointed.
