- Description
- The U.S. Department of Commerce (USDOC), National Oceanic and Atmospheric and Administration (NOAA), and National Marine Fisheries, Southeast Regional Office, Protected Resources Division, St. Petersburg, FL, intends to procure services to Conduct study on Habitat-Based Variation in Oxidative Stress and Antioxidant Capacity in Johnson Seagrass. Previous experimental studies have shown that H. johnsonii has a wide salinity tolerance, but with optimum rates of photosynthesis at near-seawater salinities. These studies indicate salinity is the only environmental factor that has been directly linked to mortality of Johnson's seagrass. The goal is to more accurately determine the hyposalinity tolerance threshold of H. johnsonii. The results of the study provide insight on physiological tolerance to uni-directional hyposalinity conditions. The study will also determine resilience to sub-lethal salinity fluctuations that vary in duration, frequency and amplitude and may be more frequently encountered across the range of H. johnsonii. This research specifically focuses on recovery objectives listed in the recovery plan. 1. Establish the salinity tolerance threshold for H. johnsonii. 2. Evaluate long-term monitoring of salinity throughout the geographic range of H. johnsonii and determine if salinity is within the species' salinity tolerance and poses no threat of mortality to this species. The NAICS code for this action is 541990. The Eastern Region Acquisition Division (ERAD) requires that all contractors doing business with the Acquisition Office must be registered with the Central Contractor Registry. No award can be made unless the vendor is registered in CCR. For additional information and to register in CCR please access the following website: http://www.ccr.gov/. In order to register with the CCR and to be eligible to receive an award from this acquisition office, all offerors must have a Dun & Bradstreet Number. A Dun & Bradstreet number may be acquired free of charge by contacting Dun & Bradstreet on-line at https://www.dnb.com/product/eupdate/requestOptions.html or by phone at (800) 333-0505. Responses can also be faxed to 816-274-6983. Attn: Sharon Walker. After results of this market research are obtained and analyzed, NOAA may conduct a competitive procurement and subsequently award a Purchase Order. If at least two qualified small businesses are identified during this market research stage, then any competitive procurement that resulted would be conducted as a small business set-aside.
