- The US Navy has a requirement for suction machines that are used during lifesaving surgery. The US Navy has been tasked by the Joint Chiefs to outfit a medical facility located in a war zone. The Expeditionary Medical Logistics branch of the Naval Medical Logistics command has been tasked with providing medical equipment support for this facility. The medical facility will directly impact the daily lives of US combat soldiers by providing emergency life saving medical assistance when required. The facility has started receiving casualties and it is critical that these surgical items be ordered immediately. Due to the urgency of needing these lifesaving suction machines, limited market research was conducted as American and NATO troop lives are at risk without these surgical instruments. Items are essential for the hefty trauma load they're experiencing, e.g. a pneumatic drill for the cranium as opposed to a hand crank. Understanding the timeframe of delivery has been impeded by the funds becoming available only a couple of weeks ago, the DSG is concerned Navy Medicine is at risk of less than optimal performance absent the proper gear on deck. The medical equipment being purchased with this package is needed immediately for shipment. All medical equipment needs to be shipped to NEMSCOM before 30 Jul 2010 if at all possible. ALL ITEMS NEED TO MEET THE ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENT OF 220 VAC and 50 Hz.
