- This procurement was for the development and training of a 5 day basic level engineering course. Due to the urgent nature of this requirement as a result of upcoming deployment schedules, this acquisition was awarded on a sole source basis. The individuals attached to the Marine Special Operations Command have a need for basic level engineering skills prior to their deployments; therefore, a one time award to the University of North Carolina satisfied this requirement in the urgent time frame that was needed. This will be a recurring requirement, and all future acquisitions of this nature will be competed utilizing full and open competition. A follow-on requirement is expected within 12 months of this award.
