Description
This synopsis is being posted to the Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) website located at http://www.fbo.gov, the Navy Electronic Commerce on Line (NECO) website located at https://www.neco.navy.mil/, and the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division, Acquisition website located at http://www.navsea.navy.mil/nswc/crane/working/contracting. FBO is the primary point of entry to be used when access to synopses and solicitations from the World Wide Web is required. However, the NECO webpage as well as the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division, Acquisition webpage serve as alternatives if the FBO website is unavailable AMENDMENT 0001 Change NAICS code from 541711 to 541712. All other information to remain the same. This is a synopsis for a Research and Development effort to develop a laser product that provides aiming and pointing capability in the 8 to 12 micron wavelength range, with a focus in the long wave infrared (LWIR) band. This Thermal Laser Pointer (TLP) should be mountable to the rail system of the M-4 Carbine and SCAR (Special Combat Assault Rifle) rifle without obscuring the optics. This acquisition will be conducted on a full and open competition basis and may result in the award of no more than three contracts so as to discover the most effective technology moving forward. Current plans are to award the first Contract Line Item Number (CLIN) upon contract award and continue to award CLIN's after successful program/design reviews. The government reserves the right to award at any Technical Readiness Levels (TRL) within Phase I and or Phase II. Contractors must be registered with the Central Contractor Registration database. The Contract Line Item Numbers are anticipated to be as follows: CLIN 0001-Phase I Preliminary Design; CLIN 0002-Phase I Detailed Design; CLIN 0003-Phase I Prototype; CLIN 0004-Phase II Preliminary Design; CLIN 0005-Phase II Detailed Design; CLIN 0006-Phase II Prototype; CLIN 0007-Travel; CLIN 0008-Data For information contact Gary Frye, Bldg 3291 Code CXMM, 300 Highway 361, Crane IN 47522-5001 812-854-8890, or e-mail: gary.frye1@navy.mil.
