Description
Sandia National Laboratories, operated by Sandia Corporation under contract with the U.S. Department of Energy, is seeking industrial partners to develop applications for a novel approach to suppressing single event transients in CMOS circuits using composite transistors. Transient-Immune Composite transistors are compatible with standard processing of SOI technology and standard triple-well processing of Bulk CMOS technology. Sandia has unique technical capabilities and intellectual property in this important technology space (see U.S. 7,298,010). Single event transients in CMOS circuits are caused by energetic particle radiation resulting in system soft errors. With the confluence of ever increasing transistor density of integrated circuits and threatening application environments, reliability has become a major concern in the evolution of the next generation systems. Technology trends such as transistor down-sizing, use of new materials, and system-on-a-chip architectures further increase system sensitivity to single event transients. Even for terrestrial applications, system errors caused by cosmic radiation become a concern. Sandia's Transient-Immune Composite transistor technology can help mitigate these soft errors. Partners will collaborate with Sandia on the continued development of the technology in various applications with the intent of providing a clear path to commercialization. Qualified partners should be prepared to enter into a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement with Sandia, contribute resources, including staff and facilities; and, if successful with commercialization, license Sandia's intellectual property. Companies interested in partnering with Sandia should provide a written statement of interest, including: 1. Company name and address; 2. Name, address, and telephone number of a technical and business points of contact; 3. Description of company business interest, expertise and facilities relevant to this commercialization partnership. For more business and licensing information, please contact Mark Allen, telephone (505) 844-7197, fax (505) 844-8011, email: msallen@sandia.gov. Please respond by email or fax no later than August 31, 2010, at: Sandia National Laboratories, MS 0114, P.O. Box 5800, Albuquerque, New Mexico 87185. Sandia is a multi-program laboratory operated by Sandia Corporation, a Lockheed Martin Company, for the United States Department of Energy's National Nuclear Security Administration under Contract DE-AC04-94AL85000.
