Description
RECOVERY - PER FAR 5.7 THIS NOTICE IS PROVIDED FOR INFORMATION PURPOSES ONLY; THEREFORE FAR 5.203 DOES NOT APPLY. THIS OPPORTUNITY WAS AVAILABLE ONLY TO THE 8(A) FIRMS AWARDED AN INDEFINITE DELIVERY INDEFINITE QUANTITY MULTIPLE AWARD CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT UNDER SOLICITATION N69450-08-R-1772. The work requirement under this task order will be for the Overhaul Dry Dock Steel Caisson at Trident Refit Facility, Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay, Georgia. The caisson is a critical component to the dry dock system. It is the removable door that allows vessels to enter the dry dock and when ballasted in place, at the entrance to the dry dock, allows the water to be pumped out of the dry dock. This leaves the vessel out of the water ready to be worked on. The caisson is approximately 117.5 feet long, 63 feet tall and 22 feet wide. NAVSEA requires a satisfactory material condition of critical dry dock structures and systems to maintain dry dock certification. A caisson's structure and its operating systems are critical to the safe operation of a dry dock. The scope of this repair project includes overhaul of the steel caisson exterior and interior. The surfaces require cleaning, inspection, blasting, repair, and coating. The tanks also require new piping, pumps and electrical. This project will have a maximum duration of 240 calendar days from the date of award of the task order. The task order funds are Operations & Maintenance, Navy RA.
