Description
Questions and Answers N2551103351 Q:A site requirement is integration with Microsoft Office SharePoint and SharePoint sites - It seems that you have considered using Sharepoint in this instance, but have decided against it for some reason. Can you elaborate on what's affecting your decision to use another tool? This important answer will help provide us a basis for us to recommend a different tool to better meet your needs. A: We have not considered Sharepoint for this purpose. However Sharepoint is in use and content does exist in Sharepoints throughout the NPS that we would like to access and make more accessible to everyone. Q:In reviewing your requirements I noticed that NPS is only considering.net solutions. Would NPS consider a superior PHP based open source solution? A: The workforce capabilities within NPS require.net. Q:REQUIREMENT 2.0 INTREGRATION - What is the need to integrate withSharePoint, when SharePoint is itself a content management system? A: Sharepoint has not been deployed as a Enterprise Content Management (ECM) System. It is more akin to a portal product than an ECM. NPS needs a way to expose the content within the myriad of Sharepoints that have sprawled across the organization while maintaining the rich administrative capabilities of a true ECM and the usability and ease of design and information architecture that a true ECM provides. Q:REQUIREMENT 2.0 INTREGRATION - When you mention nesting of SharePointsites can you be more specific as to what is to be accomplished here? A: Exposing the content within Sharepoint sites on the presentation layer so that the user does not know the difference between the Sharepoint content and the CMS content. Q:REQUIREMENT 9.0 IMAGE LIBRARY - Can you elaborate on what is required for"Shall include image security and workflow processes?" A: This is the same as any Digital Asset Management. Managing of images needs to follow an authentication routine, and editorial workflows enabled to be applied to image management. Q:REQUIREMENT 11.0 WORKFLOW - Shall include publishing of partial pagecontent. Does this mean creating a web page and only showing portions of iton the internet? A: This means that a page can be comprised of multiple "elements"/"objects" and each of those objects can be published on the page separately and/or all at the same time. For instance, a page may have an 'image with caption' object and a 'text object' the author may decide to publish only the text and not the image or the author could publish the whole page or the author could publish the image and not the text.
