Description
The National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI), on behalf of The Laboratory of Animal Medicine and Surgery intends to procure (3) MediLive MindStream package systems on a sole-source basis from Carl Zeiss Meditec, Inc., 5160 Hacienda Drive, Dublin, CA 94568-7562. The system (with cameras) is needed for scientific documentation of experimental data for publication or presentation by NHLBI investigators and for training in microsurgical procedures. This system will enable us to capture and edit video of microsurgical procedures done with the operating microscopes so the videos can be used as a permanent record of the procedures as well as for training and presentations by investigative staff. This high resolution system is necessary in order to capture the extremely fine detail of surgical procedures performed under operating microscopes. Carl Zeiss is the manufacturer of our operating microscopes and this video camera system has been optimized for use with these operating microscopes. It is designed to mount directly to our existing microscopes so that the video camera is par focal with the oculars so the image displayed through the camera is identical to what the surgeons see through the microscope. This is critical for training and capturing high quality videos. This system from Carl Zeiss contains all the customized adapters and connectors to make it fully compatible with our existing equipment. The MediLive MindStream package system shall include: * (3) Medilive Mind Stream pkg. (15" touch screen monitor w/ 12v power supply, desk stand, cable set 2.0m). * (3) Trio 610 HD Camera-Vario or Lumera pkg. (Trio w/CCU Trio 600, System cable angled 4m). * (3) System Extension Cables for TRIO 600 4m * (3) BNC to BNC Cable 25' * (1) 42" HD Plasma Monitor w/wall mount This request is for interested firms with the capability of providing the items listed above and to submit a capability statement along with projected pricing, to assist the Government in determining in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 19.502-2(b) whether or not this procurement will be set-aside for any of the programs described above. The intended procurement will be classified under North American Industrial Classification (NAICS) code 334516 with a size standard of 500 employees. POTENTIAL SOURCES SHALL PROVIDE THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION IN THEIR RESPONSE: Company name, address, phone number, primary contact(s), e-mail address, NAICS code(s), business size (i.e., small/large) and DUNS number. Vendors may identify in writing their interest and capability in response to this requirement or submit a quote/proposal. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement in the future. However, all responses received before the closing date of this announcement will be considered by the Government. Vendors who believe they can provide the requirement may submit written notification to the Contracting Specialist "No Later Than" 10:00 AM, EST, July 21, 2010 If no responses are received, the Government will proceed with the sole source procurement to Carl Zeiss Meditec, Inc.
