- Description
- ERDC Contracting Office intends to solicit sources and pricing under the authority of FAR 13.500 to SPORIAN MICROSYSTEMS, INC. 515 COURTNEY WAY SUITE B, LAFAYETTE, CO 80026, for Aqua Path II Demonstration System Biosensing Cartridges. This procurement is being conducted under Simplified Acquisition Procedures --- only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than Wednesday, July 21, 2010 - 11:00 A.M., CDST. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. Interested parties may submit quotes for consideration by the Government to amanda.andrews@usace.army.mil. Please use solicitation number referenced in the subject line. The Engineer Research and Development Centers (ERDC) Geospatial Research and Engineering Division (GRED) Data Signatures and Analysis Branch, Fluorescence Spectroscopy Laboratory, owns an AQUA PATH prototyped demonstration network unit. It is located in our Fluorescence Spectroscopy Laboratory, Alexandria, VA. The AQUA PATH II demonstration system would provide a workable mesh network with cartridges replaceable for select waterborne bacteria/toxins to investigate waterborne pathogens (such as E. coli) in surface waters at high sensitivity and faster time of detection than standard EPA Methods and in brackish/saltwater environments. Sporian Microsystems is the only company that provides the AQUA PATH II demonstration system. The AQUA PATH demonstration system is already in place within the Fluorescence Spectroscopy Laboratory. The AQUA PATH demonstration system cartridges are unique to the AQUA PATH unit and the AQUA PATH unit only thus Sporian Microsystems is the only provider. The AQUA PATH II waterborne pathogen detection system is specific to detection of E. coli broad non-human, and Enterococcus faecalis for salt water environments. This system is critical to analyzing mission-critical research related to Terraprobes, a 6.2 Applied Research funded projects currently ongoing in the geospatial research and engineering topic area and supports networked based biosensing applications.
