- Description
- The work includes, but is not limited to the reconstruction of isolated drainage areas with new culvert installations, recondition and upgrade all roadway drainage and drainage structures, and place aggregate surfacing on the full 4.04 mile length of FS Road 22S02 Last Chance Road. The following is a list of major items of work to be done, but is not conclusive: o Clearing and grubbing of designated culvert installation sites, also at designated existing drainage sites overgrown with vegetation and with concentrations of slash debris blocking the drainage channels, and for sight distance at the bridge, logs will be cut to lengths and decked at approved sites, slash treatment will be scattering of construction slash over the fill side of the roadway, avoiding concentrations or piles and out of sight of the road travel way. o Unplug, clean, and recondition, specified roadway drainage structures (drainage dips, ditches, ditch relief and cross drainage culverts, and over the side drains), to reestablish effective free flowing drainage of the areas, also to reduce sediment movement to any nearby streams, also to reduce the potential of any culvert(s) becoming blocked during storm events, and install riprap at outlets, when specified. o Install at specified areas replacement culverts, metal end sections on the inlets of existing culverts and reduce drainage diversion potential, by installation of overflow structures at culverts and other specified areas. o Remove berm as specified, also outslope roadway to minimize water concentration, erosion, and sediment production. o Recondition and clean existing bridge and cattleguard. o Recondition roadway and place aggregate surfacing on the travel way. The project is located on the Western Divide Ranger District of the Sequoia National Forest. A pre-bid tour will be conducted. Information regarding the date and time of the pre-bid tour will be provided in the solicitation when issued. The price range of this project is between $250,000 and $500,000. The estimated contract time is 200 calendar days. Estimated start work date is September 7, 2010. Issue date is approximately July 27, 2010 with a closing date of approximately August 26, 2010. This project is being issued unrestricted.
