- The Marine Corps Systems Command, Quantico, VA intends to negotiate on a sole source basis a firm fixed price contract with at estimated value of $67,000,000.00 to American Science and Engineering, Inc. of Billerica, MA. This procurement is for field support representatives to provide maintenance and training on the fielded Z-Backscatter Van (ZBV) Military Trailers (Mil-Trailer,) also manufactured with AS&E. The statutory authority for this sole source purchase is under Title 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1) and Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 6.302-1 Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. No formal solicitation package is available. The Government will not be responsible for any cost incurred in responding to this notice, however, the Government will consider all proposals received within 3 days after date of publication of this synopsis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open basis is solely within the discretion of the Government.
