- Description
- NASA/NSSC has a requirement for a course entitled Tailored VxWorks 6.7Fundamentals and Real-Time Programming for Embedded Systems. The objective of thetraining is to provide users with minimal experience hands-on training in developingreal-time applications with VxWorks 6.7 and Wind River Workbench and educate seasonedengineers with the new features of VxWorks since version 5.5. VxWorks is heavily used bythe Code RI Embedded Systems Developers at Dryden to develop real-time data axquisitionssystems for various flight projects. The training shall cover the following topics: Thekernel and the Real-Time Process version 6.7, build and configure a VxWorks real-timesystem, real-time architecture and basic real-time operating system functionality, designreal-time applications using the VxWorks API, develop synchronization solutions andproteck shared resources, manage memory and inter-task communication, analyze and debugreal-time, device driver and encapsulation techniques, handle exceptions and interrupts,execute code periodically using timers, partitioning software into tasks, VMEbusaddressing, and good programming practices. The vendor shall be responsible forproviding all training materials including but not limited to hard copies of lab andcourse materials and all needed systems for the lab portions. The vendor shall conductone 5-day training session. Training shall be held at NASAs Dryden Flight ResearchCenter August 9-13, 2010.NASA/NSSC intends to purchase the training course from Wind River Systems, Inc., 500 WindRiver Way, Alameda, CA 94501. Pursuant to FAR 13.106, the acquisition of these serviceshas been determined to be reasonably available from only one source. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12.Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform theeffort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local timeon July 20, 2010. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for thepurpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and opencompetition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretionof the government.Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice.All responsible sources may submit a capability statement, proposal, or quotation, whichshall be considered by the agency.Capabilities and qualifications should be submitted to Megan Willis atMegan.M.Willis@nasa.gov.An Ombudsman has been appointed.
