Description
ERDC Contracting Office intends to solicit sources and pricing under the authority of FAR 13.500 for a Portable X-Ray Diffractometer. Requested sole source vendor is INNOV-X SYSTEMS, 100 Sylvan Road, Suite 500, Woburn, MA 01801. This procurement is being conducted under Simplified Acquisition Procedures --- only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than Wednesday, 14 July 2010 - 11:00 A.M., CDST. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. Interested parties may submit quotes for consideration by the Government to christopher.m.barnett@usace.army.mil. Technical POC anthony.j.bednar@usace.army.mil -- Please use solicitation number referenced in the subject line. The Environmental Laboratory has been tasked with purchasing a Field Portable X-ray Fluorescence/X-ray Diffraction instrument. This instrument will provide invaluable data about the chemical composition and mineralogy of materials. Ongoing research into the interactions of contaminants with surfaces and work into the redox geochemistry of metals have created analytical challenges that cannot be overcome with our existing equipment, necessitating that a state-of-the-art portable system be acquired. An XRD/XRF instrument is a dual detection instrument capable of simultaneously measuring elemental composition and mineralogy using an X-ray source and charge coupled detector. The system consists of a cobalt or copper X-ray source, crushed powder sample holder, detector, and peak detection and analysis software. The XRD/XRF system and its associated computer and workstation software must have the following specifications: " Field portable, with capability to be powered by batteries or field generator. " Simultaneous XRD and XRF analysis capability. " Charge Coupled Device detector. " Air cooled X-ray source rather than requiring water cooling for field operation. " Microgram sample requirements for all analyses. " Qualitative and Quantitative data analysis software. Innov-X-Systems is the sole distributor of field portable XRD/XRF instrumentation The Terra XRD/XRF offered by Innov-X-Systems is the only instrument that meets all of the required specifications for the research to be conducted.
