- The Social Security Administration (SSA) plans to issue a solicitation for computer cable services (installation, removal, trouble shooting and other support) at SSA occupied buildings in Baltimore, with occasional work in the Washington, DC and Virginia areas. The contractor shall provide all management, supervision, labor and equipment necessary for the safe, organized and timely installation, relocation, termination and removal of all types of cable including (but not limited to) RG Coax Cables, PVC and Teflon/Plenum and all types of connectors; RS-232 cables 2 to 25 Conductors and all types of connectors; channel adapter cables (Bus/Tag) all lengths; Token ring cables and connectors (Type 1 and Baluns); Fiber Optic Multi and Single mode, trunk cables and all types of fiber connectors; all types of Ethernet cables and connectors (Cat-5/Cat-5E/Cat-6/Cat-7); and any other type of data and/or communications cable and connectors. Security clearances will be required i! n the performance of this contract. This is 100% set-aside for Historically Underutilized Business Zone (HUB Zone) small business concerns. Offers from other than HUB Zone small business concerns will not be considered. The North American Industry Classification (NAICS) Code for this requirement is 238210 with a size standard of $14.0 million. This acquisition will be conducted in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items, and FAR Part 15, Contracting by Negotiation. SSA anticipates that this competition, restricted exclusively for HUB Zone small business concerns, will result in the award of one Firm Fixed Price Contract with a base year and four option years, if exercised. The performance period for this effort is anticipated to begin in September, 2010. SSA anticipates release of the solicitation (SSA-RFP-10-1029) on or about June 25, 2010.
