Description
The US Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service in Hilo, HI has a requirement for a portable NirVana AG410 spectrometer near infrad (Vis/NIR) spectrometer. The NIR spectrometer will be used for field and laboratory chemometric analysis of tropical fruit constituents (soluble solids contents, dry matter content, internal flesh color), allowing for non-destructive determination of fruit maturity and quality. Instrument specifications include: 350 to 1100 nm wavelength, with a 8 nm to 13 nm resolution, with a typical RMSEP for soluble solids content of ± 0.2 °Brix. Instrument components include the ISIS software suite, and EMU (Easy Model Updater). The CAMO Unscrambler software allows the user to develop robust and accurate prediction models. Features include onboard GPS receiver and automatic dynamic range adjustment. Mathematical models were developed for the NirVana AG415 for tropical fruit of importance to researchers in Hawaii, enabling robust predictions of fruit soluble solids or dry matter contents with NIR spectral data. The instrument includes software developed to run chemometric calibration models using partial least-squares regression, based on the NIR spectra and associated destructive measurements of soluble solids or dry matter content. Cross-validation statistical models are also included, based on NIR spectra of fruit, so that the models are repeatedly updated as more sample data is entered. Model updating can be performed through the ISIS software. Also, the company provides online support in model development and updating. A major benefit would be that scientists would not need to spend months of research time developing new models for use with other, competing NIR instruments. The USDA ARS intends on negotiating with the only known source Integrated Spectronics Australia. A RFQ is not available for this requirement interested firms can submit proposals to the attentions of FRED GIFFORD as listed in this notice. See numbered note 22.
