Description
This Market Survey is issued to determine the availability of companies for the hardware, installation, and certification of an UNS 1FW Flight Management System at the Atlantic City International Airport, NJ. The FAA Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) program office is pursuing a project that examines the use of WAAS on helicopters in New York City. The goal of the project is to show the advantages of using WAAS on helicopters in this environment and to develop new procedures so helicopters can safely and efficiently navigate in the crowded New York City airspace. To support this project, flight testing will be necessary. The FAA William J Hughes Technical Center owns and operates a Sikorsky S-76A helicopter. This aircraft is used by the FAA for engineering flight testing and flight demonstrations. The 'S-76' currently does not have a WAAS shipboard capability that is required to conduct these flight tests and demonstrations. The upgrade to incorporate WAAS in the 'S-76' is to upgrade the flight management system (FMS). The project will require the certification of the new equipment. Interested parties must meet the following requirements: 1- Must be able supply the FAA with a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for installation and certification of the Universal UNS-1FW with LP/LPV monitor receiver system on the Sikorsky S-76A helicopter. 2- Must be able to provide the STC for installation and certification of the WAAS antenna mount on the tail rotor drive shaft cover on the S-76A helicopter 3- All work must be completed at the FAA Technical Center, Atlantic City Airport, NJ. Submissions of capability summaries are due by 2pm Friday June 25, 2010. The FAA is not liable for costs associated with the preparation and submittal of responses to this announcement. Brochures alone will not be considered sufficient documentation for demonstration capabilities. Responses will not be returned. This is a market survey so NO solicitation exists. All questions are to be submitted, via email, to harry.lutz@faa.gov not later than 2pm Eastern Standard Time June 23, 2010. No telephone inquiries will be accepted. All responses to this announcement must be submitted, via email, to harry.lutz@faa.gov not later than 2pm Eastern Standard Time, Friday June 25, 2010.
