Description
The work consists of 1. Providing all necessary materials, equipment, and labor to replace the existing damaged wire rope on the 75-ton capacity stationary hoist for Service Gate 3 with new wire rope as specified herein. Removing and disposing of existing damaged wire rope. 2. Providing all necessary materials, equipment, and labor to perform a periodic inspection of the existing hoist, sheaves, and damaged wire rope on Service Gate 3 in accordance with ASME B30.7. Providing a detailed written inspection report. If the inspection uncovers a defect or defects in the hoist and/or sheaves which may have caused the existing rope to fail, or which would prevent proper installation of the new wire rope or operation of the hoist, the report shall include recommendations on hoist repairs. 3. Shipping additional wire rope to Franklin, New Hampshire. B. Project/Site Conditions and Operational Restrictions There are three Broome type slide gates in the flood control intake tower at Knightville Dam, Huntington, Massachusetts. The fabricated steel gates and hoists are approximately 70 years old and were manufactured by Phillips and Davies. The hoists are located on the operating floor at elevation 630.5. The wire rope on Gate 3 has been damaged and requires replacement. Rope replacement shall be accomplished with the gate in the fully closed position at the bottom of the gate shaft (elevation 480). The estimated cost of this procurement is between $25,000 and $100,000. This solicitation will be available on or about 28 June 2010 and will be available for downloading by accessing the Federal Business Opportunities website (http://www.fbo.gov) which links to the FedTeds website (see below). Prospective contractors are required to self register their firm on the Internet to receive this solicitation. Registration instructions are available on the internet at https://www.fedteds.gov. Amendments, if any, will be available at this Internet site. Neither telephonic, mailed nor faxed requests will be accepted. Registrants are responsible for the accuracy of the information on the registration list. This procurement is set aside for small business. The applicable NAICS code is 333999 with a Small Business Size Standard of 500 employees. All responsible sources may submit a quotation which will be considered by the New England District.
