- The U. S. Geological Survey, Central Region, Biological Resource Division, CBI, PO Box 25046, MS 302, Denver, CO 80225 has a requirement to update the taxonomy, synonyms in common use, common names, native status and gross distribution in ITIS to reflect recent updates in the taxonomy of Moths, Mammals,and Birds. These updates will comprise the editing and or addition of no less than 120 species. The data will also be suitable for integration with the Natureserve database: Biotics. Based on information available, and in accordance with 41 USC 253 (c) (1) and as implemented by FAR 6.302-1 (b) (1) (i), the USGS considers this requirement to be a sole source to NatureServe, 1101 Wilson Blvd, Arlington, VA 22209. NatureServe data on threatened and endangered species cannot be released to third parties by agreement eith the state Heritage programs because of exact locality data would further endanger the organisms and violate various state laws, and policies in many cases. In addition, the core capabilities to perform this work include typonomic research requiring personnel with typonomic expertise. However, should additional sources be identified, they will be considered. Other interested concerns having the ability to furnish these services may submit a capabilities statement to the USGS contract specialist, P. O. Box 25046, MS 204, Denver Federal Center, Denver, Colorado 80225-0046, Attention: Gail Walker, no later than June 23, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. Mountain Time. Responses may be sent by mailed, delivery service, or emailed to gwalker@usgs.gov. All responses shall include literature, brochures, and other materials that respond to this requirement. This information will be evaluated and used to determine if competitive opportunities exist. Since no solicitation document exists, requests for this document without accompanying information will be considered non-responsive to this request and will not be considered further. This notice may represent the Government's only official notice of this procurement. This is not a request for Proposal.
