Description
NAICS Code: 339112 The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Office of Research and Development's National Health and Environmental Effects Research Laboratory, located in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina intents to negotiate on a sole source basis, under the authority of FAR6.302-1 with AutoGen, Inc. for the following: 1. Full Automated Nucleic Acid Extraction System (with Tissue/Cell RNA protocol)2. Additional Protocol (Tissue/Cell DNA protocol)3. Bullet Blender (Automated Tissue/Cell Disrupter)4. 1 year warranty covering cost of repair/replacement, including labor or any defect in workmanship or parts. The nature of this acquisition requires a contractor that posses the unique capabilities to provide the aforementioned items. The AutoGenprep 245T Nucleic Acid Extractor System with additional AutoGen Protocol for both DNA and RNA extraction and Bullet Blender meets the following requirements:- Bench top model fitting into the available space that is 26"W, 24"L, and 32"H- Fully automated for the extraction of both total RNA and Genomic DNA capable of homogenizing the tissue prior to extraction, eliminating the need for a laboratory technician to homogenize hundreds of samples manually. - Nucleic Acid must be chemically extracted to allow for increased recovery of low abundance samples (an often occurrence when dealing with fetal tissues and cell culture samples)- Nucleic Acid must be recovered in pellet form to meet long term storage quality assurance requirements.- Standard Power Usage: 15 Amps, 115 Volts, 56/60 Hertz- Automation must process a minimum of 24 samples in 2.5 hours, and must operate for a minimum of 8 hours at a time unattended.- One year warranty covering cost of repair/replacement, including labor or any defect in workmanship or parts. The EPA has identified AutoGen, Inc as the only provider of commercial equipment able to meet the requirements of this procurement. Subsequently, EPA has determined that AutoGen, Inc. is the only manufacturer that can provide the items that meet the requirement listed above. This procurement will be accomplished under FAR Part 12 Acquisition of Commercial Items. Interested firms may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirements. THIS NOTICE OF INTENT IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE QUOTATIONS. A determination by the Government not to compete this acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
