Description
DESCRIPTION OF WORK: The work consists in demolition of RADOME TOWER #4 to include removal and disposition and/or recycling of all demolition debris and the furnishing of all labor, equipment, appliances, materials and performing all operations in strict accordance with the specifications and the applicable drawings, and subject to the terms and conditions of the contract. Contractor will conduct demolition operations assuming that no hazardous materials are present at tower other than lead based paint in the areas identified in annexed report. The following is a list of the principal features of the project as described in the specifications, shown, noted or implied upon in the accompanying drawings, showing the general characteristics and extent of the work. Parts not specifically detailed shall be constructed in a manner and spirit conforming to the class of work required for the whole project following the best engineering practices. Period of Performance for this project is 100 days. This period of performance considers a period up to the initial 30 calendar days for permits and coordination for environmental requirement. PERMITS AND TESTING Contractor will be responsible for requesting and obtaining all required permits as per Federal and State regulations. Contractor is responsible to perform all testing required by Federal and state regulations. ANCILLARY EQUIPMENT Contractor will remove and properly dispose according with Federal and state regulations all existing equipment related to the Radome Tower #4. Contractor will be required to perform Lead Based Paint (LBP) Abatement actions in accordance with Puerto Rico Environmental Quality Board lead regulations prior to demolishing the structure. The contaminated surfaces or substrates will be removed. The waste generated has to be characterized to determine if the waste generated is hazardous or non hazardous waste. The firm providing the abatement services must be certified as an abatement firm by the EQB. Workers conducting abatement must be trained and certified as abatement workers by a training provider accredited by the EQB. Manifests of all waste containing LBP must be provided by contractor to the PRANG. Refer to LBP Inspection Report for PSRS, dated March 2010, Annex 1. Contractor shall present documented evidence of recycling from total volume of materials resulting from project execution as per specifications. Excavate and install approx. 135 ft of 1 ¼ inch electrical underground conduit to provide electrical power from Building 16 (Admin Building) to Building 29 (Guard House). Excavation will include pavement sawcut and trenching of approximately 20 ft. Compact excavation by layers according to compacting equipment. Asphalt pavement finishing must match existing conditions smoothly. Provide photos of open excavation with final installation of conduits. All existing electric, water, data and control conduits running from the Radome tower to any adjacent building will be capped and abandoned in place and documented as per specifications. Remove and deliver FOB in Muñiz ANG Base located in Carolina PR, an existing dry type step down transformer according with federal and state regulations. The estimated cost this project is between $100,000 to $250,000. Solicitation should be available on or about 26 May 2010. whit opening date 25 June 2010 10:00 AM. A pre-bid meeting or site visit is schedule for 16 June 2010 10:00 AM.
