- Design/Build Construction Project 534-321, Renovate Nursing Home for Hospice/Palliative Care at the Ralph H. Johnson Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Charleston, SC. The intent of this project is to renovate this 18,500 square foot unit, to improve functional efficiency, infrastructural and residential comfort within the existing Community Living Center (CLC). Functional efficiency is achieved by creating an organized, dignified layout of rooms with respect to exterior views, thoughtful separation of public and private spaces, and improved organizational flow for caregivers and residents alike. The improved residential comfort is achieved by clearly organizing rooms in a hierarchical manner, with residential rooms flanking perimeter walls, and shared activity areas in core spaces, with access to natural light. The estimated construction cost is between $5,000,000.00 and $10,000,000.00. Consideration is limited to Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Businesses, and the solicitation will be issued as a Sealed Bid. The bids shall be hand delivered to the Main Auditorium on the first floor at the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center. Bids may also be mailed to Cassaundra Mulligan, Code S150B, Ralph H. Johnson VAMC, 109 Bee Street, Charleston, SC 29401-5799. All Bids must be received before 2:30 PM Eastern time the day of the bid opening or anytime before the day of the bid opening. If bids are not received by 2:30 PM Eastern time the day of the bid opening, they will be considered late. The NAICS Code for this requirement is 236220 and the Small Business Size Standard is $33.5M. This notice is issued subject to the availability of funds and is not a request for proposal. The solicitation will be issued on the Federal Business Opportunities Website on or about June 1, 2010 with proposals due on or about July 1, 2010.
