- Synopsis The Impact of Wide-Base Tires on Pavements - A National Study This is a Pre-Solicitation notice (synopsis) for a full and open competition. The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) anticipates a requirement for a study on the impact of wide-base tires on pavements. This research and development study will examine the effect of wide-base and dual tires with variable axle configurations on flexible pavements of varying structural geometry and capacity. Only wide-base tires currently available in the US market of a width greater than 425 mm will be considered. The awardee shall conduct a study to provide an analysis of wide-base and dual tire performance on pavements. This solicitation will be released and available electronically at http://www.fedbizopps.gov. Accordingly, NO written, telephone, facsimile or e-mail requests for the solicitation package will be accepted. However, interested parties can register at the aforementioned site to receive procurement announcements/notifications of postings by e-mail. Since this solicitation will only be available electronically, it will be the responsibility of interested parties to monitor the www.fedbizopps.gov website for any solicitation amendments. The NAICS code for this solicitation is 541330 with a SB Size Standard of $4.5 million. NO OTHER PROCUREMENT INFORMATION IS AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME.
