Description
Repair Linen ChutesStratton VA Medical Center The Samuel S. Stratton VA Medical Center (hereafter "The VA" or "VA"), located at 113 Holland Ave., Albany NY 12208, intends to release a competitive Invitation for Bid (IFB) numbered VA-528-10-IB-0137, for a project entitled "Repair Linen Chutes" on or about the week of May 17, 2010. Unless additional notice is given or this notice is modified, the full IFB will be posted to the Government-wide Point of Entry (www.fbo.gov). The current intention of the VA is to procure these services competitively via a 100% Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) set-aside. The applicable NAICS code will be236220, with an applicable small business size standard of $33.5 Million. The estimated construction value of this project falls within the range of $500,000 and $1,000,000. Bid, performance and payment bonding will be required to respond to this IFB once released. This is a pre-solicitation notice synopsizing an upcoming competitive solicitation to satisfy the requirements of FAR 5.201 and 5.203. The work to be performed for Repair Linen Chutes includes but is not limited to, the following: "Renovation of the existing linen chute system will consist of the selective demolition and reconstruction to all areas surrounding the chutes and access doors. "Repair the all four (4) existing linen chutes located within the main Medical Center located in wings A, B, C & D that service the sub basement and floors one (1) thru ten (10). "The work includes replacement of access doors and installation of mechanical / electrical safety interlock system and controls at all entry points, installation of roof top mechanical ventilation equipment for each chute, improve / install sprinklers per code within the linen chute system, repair or replacement of any damaged sections of the chutes and/or chute doors, repair of all seams and welds in the linen chute shafts. " There is asbestos between floor ten (10) and the roof that will require abatement. "Lengths of piping & fittings that have been abated shall be reinsulated. "Construct Infection Control barriers in location(s) as noted on drawings. Follow infection control procedures as directed by VA provided Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) report. "Bring linen chutes to applicable fire and safety codes; and design through roof ventilation for each of the four linen chutes. "New work will be performed in accordance with VA and NFPA guidelines. The Contracting Officer will not be able to answer any questions to this notice until an Invitation for Bids is issued and only by Request for Information (RFIs)
