- SYNOPSIS The Department of Veterans Affairs, Office of Acquisition and Logistics, Technology Acquisition Center, located at 260 Industrial Way West, Eatontown, NJ, intends to enter into a twelve-month Firm-Fixed-Price contract on the basis of full and open competition (no set-aside used) for the "Innovation from the Field for Alerts Reengineering: Usability and Human Factors Evaluation" project needed to assess the usability of two software prototypes being developed to improve alert tracking mechanisms within the VA's Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS). The Veterans Health Administration (VHA) Innovation Program is a cooperative effort between the Health and Medical Information Office (HMIO) of VHA's Office of Health Information (OHI) with VA's Office of Information and Technology (OI&T) to catalyze and support VA's next generation of Health Information Technology (HIT). VHA's Innovation Program goals are to provide tools, resources and processes that: Encourage innovations to emerge from the field; Allow innovations to evolve based on collaborative constructive review; Provide a safe harbor for innovations to be piloted; and Vet Innovations from business and technical perspective. The goal of this project is to conduct usability and human factors evaluations of the prototypes as they are being developed and to provide important feedback that will result in system acceptance once implemented. The Contractor shall provide all necessary personnel, management, hardware, software, administrative support, travel, and technical services required to meet the performance objectives of this project. The solicitation number assigned to this effort is VA118-10-RP-0313 and will be issued on or about 13 May 2010. An award date of no later than 30 June 2010 is desired. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals, however all responsible sources may submit a proposal in response to the solicitation which shall be considered by the agency. The NAICS Code/Size is 541511/$25M. This notification shall close on Thursday, May 13 2010. Questions/responses shall be submitted to the contract specialist at matthew.truex@va.gov.
