Description
The US Army Military History Institute (USAMHI), US Army Heritage and Education Center (AHEC), Carlisle Barracks has a requirement for trained, qualified historians to support the mission of the USAMHI, Oral History (OH) Branch. OH products require comprehensive research, interviews, transcription and collaborative editing. Uniquely qualified historians are required to conduct these challenging projects. The USAMHI, USAHEC conducts the Senior Officer Oral History Program (SOOHP) as directed by AR 870-5, Military History. Interview transcripts are placed in the USAMHI archives for use by scholars in accordance with interviewee access agreements. The SOOHP is a biographical oral history project built around a series of autobiographical interviews which record a detailed history of the entire career of a senior officer, including transition to retirement and post-Army activities. It is a record of career and personal events, concepts, motivations, observations, and people important to the interviewee. The contractor shall complete four (4) projects each year. A typical project will require from four (4) to twenty (20) hours of interviews. All research, preparation, interviews and editing of transcript materials shall be conducted by a single, accountable historian per project. The end product of a SOOHP project is a 200 - 300 page edited transcript, complete with graphic material that is published unclassified by USAMHI. The Government will select the participating general officers for each year.
