Description
Statement of Work THIS IS A NOTICE OF INTENT, NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL. A SOLICIATATION DOCUMENT WILL NOT BE ISSUED AND PROPOSALS WILL NOT BE REQUESTED. The Clinical Center at the National Institutes of Health, Department of Clinical Research Informatics intends to negotiate on a sole source basis, under the authority of 41 United States Code (U.S.C.) 253(c)(1) as set forth in Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 6.302-1 a contract Extreme Z IP to manage the Mac shares hosted on our main fileservers. The NIH Clinical Center uses Extreme Z IP to manage the Mac shares hosted on our main fileservers. Microsoft removed the services support for Mac shares with Windows Server 2003. Because 40% of the CC users have Apple computers it was necessary for us to continue supporting their access to the CC Fileservers. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code is 541511 and the threshold is $25 million dollars. The anticipated period of performance will is a base year plus 4 option years. The ExtremeZ-IP software system is proprietary to GroupLogic who developed it. GroupLogic does not permit 3rd party maintenance and will not release their source code to other entities. The proprietary status of the system to GroupLogic clearly demonstrates that they are the only firm qualified to perform the required maintenance services. The ExtremeZ IP software is responsible for managing the Apple based computers access to the CC SAN shares. The software is needed to support those users since Microsoft discontinued supporting the software with the release of Windows 2003 server software. Without the software our Mac users would not be able to attach to their home or departmental shares. This notice is not a request for competitive proposals; however all responses received within 5 days from the date of the publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. Interested parties may identify their interest and capability in writing to Mr. Brian Lind at the address stated above. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract action based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purposes of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. There is no solicitation package available. For any questions regarding this announcement please contact Mr. Brian Lind at LindBJ@cc.nih.gov.
