Description
Recovery Act - Solicitation No. VA-245-10-RA-0117. The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a construction contractor to completely prepare site for building operations, including demolition and removal of existing interior construction, and furnish labor and materials and perform work for the Renovation of the Research Building Phase 2.5 as required by drawings and specifications at the Department of VA Medical Center, 50 Irving Street NW, Washington, DC. Work includes general construction, alterations, mechanical and electrical work, laboratory/medical equipment, necessary removal of existing interior construction/systems and certain other items, and installation of VAMC provided FF&E items. The six tasks consist of: Task-1 Master specifications must be edited and submitted, Task-2 Design (much of the design is completed but must provide additional drawings), and Task-3 Repair roof, Task-4 Move Bio-hoods, Task -5 Structural Work and Task -6 Room Demolition and Renovation. The VAMC Building will be occupied during performance of work; but immediate areas of alterations will be vacated. Some areas of alteration surround Medical Center operation area which must remain accessible and operational during construction. The estimated cost range for construction is $500,000.00 to $1,000,000.00.The offeror shall obtain any and all necessary licenses or permits required to perform this work in Washington, DC. The firm must be a General Construction firm approved under NAICS code 236210, size standard $33.5 million. Competition for this procurement is 100% Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business. All responsible sources may submit a proposal, which will be considered by the Department of Veterans Affairs. Prospective contractors must be registered and current in the following websites: http://www.vip.vetbiz.gov, http://www.ccr.gov, and https://orca.bpn.gov to be eligible for award. Technical and Cost Proposals will be accepted from only responsible and responsive contractors. The project duration is expected to be 210 days from the date of receipt of the notice to proceed. Electronic solicitation documents will be made available in electronic format only through the VA website at: http://www.fedbizopps.gov. It is recommended that you complete the solicitation mailing list on the website before downloading the solicitation. The Invitation for Bid (IFB) will be issued on or about Friday May 11, 2010. To schedule a pre-proposal conference /site visit please contact the Contracting Specialist via e-mail before May 17, 2010. All interested contractors must ensure that their firms have the ability to provide 100% Performance and Payment Bonds. Proposals are due to the Contracting Specialist at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, 50 Irving Street NW, Washington, DC 20422, Room BH-135 by June 17, 2010 at 2:00PM local time (EDT). The last day for questions is June 11, 2010. This procurement is subject to the availability of funds.
