Description
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) has emerging requirements and applications which require the use of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) technology. The systems have the potential to support a wide range of civil applications including emergency response, environmental monitoring, addressing land management issues, and assessing the impact of climate change. This roadmap will initiate the translation of the benefit of UAS and technologies by mapping specific unmanned system capabilities to specific USGS and Department of Interior (DOI) mission areas. This roadmap will be designed to address the following areas: 1) compile a list of current and potential applications of UAS technology by USGS and DOI bureau partners; 2) provide an overview of current and planned UAS capabilities with special emphasis on U.S. Department of Defense Programs of Record; 3) discuss the availability of sensor capabilities available for each class of UAS: Full Motion Video, Thermal, Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), Chemical- Biological-Radiological, communication relays, LiDAR, Hyperspectral, MultiSpectral, etc. 4) discuss the analytical tools available to exploit and analyze information collected via UAS technology; 5) develop a high level concept of operations for archiving and distributing the data acquired by UAS technology; 6) discuss the regulatory environment (Federal Aviation Administration and DOI Aviation Management Directorate) rules and regulations governing the operations of UAS in the National Air Space; 7) discuss the potential evolution and availability of UAS technology in 2025. The USGS is in search of small business firms who are able to perform the above mentioned services. Small business firms who feel they can furnish the required services are invited to submit in writing an affirmative response to this announcement. An affirmative response would include literature, brochures and such other materials, which correspond to the required services stated herein. This information will be evaluated and used to determine if competitive opportunities exist. Since no solicitation document exists, requests for such document without accompanying information will be considered non-responsive to this request.
