THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS, QUOTATIONS OR BIDS. The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, Seattle District, requests capability statements from businesses concerning the potential project described below. Responses to this sources sought announcement will be used by the Government to make appropriate acquisition decisions. NO SOLICITATION IS CURRENTLY AVAILABLE. General Information: Responses are to be sent via email to renee.r.heerhartz@usace.army.mil or hard copy to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, PO Box 3755, CECT-NWS-C, Seattle, WA 98124-3755 no later than 2:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time 4 May 2010. The USACE is conducting market research for construction, which consists of underwater removal of accumulated sediment and debris from the Chief Joseph Dam Stilling Basin. The Stilling Basin is comprised of a 211 feet by 195 feet concrete platform immediately adjacent to the spillway of the Chief Joseph Dam. This market research is being conducted under North American Industrial Classification Systems (NAICS) code 237990 Other Heavy and Civil Engineering Construction. Please ensure this NAICS code is incorporated in your current CCR profile at www.ccr.gov. SAMPLE SCOPE OF WORK Removal of accumulated sediment and debris from the Stilling Basin, under approximately 40-50 feet of water, as shown on applicable drawings. Work shall be performed from July 1 through August 31. No pile driving or anchoring within the stilling basin is allowed. Sediment and debris removal will be measured for payment based upon the actual volume of material removed as determined by the pre- and post-removal hydrographic surveys and shall be made only within the limits of the stilling basin overlay. EXPERIENCE AND CAPABILITY REQUIRED Experience: The contractor should have experience in constructing similar projects (i.e. working underwater, near large dams) and has demonstrated experience in a remote site. Submittal Requirements: This sources sought notice is solely for the Governments use as a market research tool. As such, the issuance of a competitive solicitation is NOT guaranteed. All responsible sources are encouraged to submit a response to this notice with a statement of interest on company letterheadno later than 4 May 2010 by 14:00 (PST). The response to this notice shall be in summary format and shall not exceed five ( 5 ) pages. All attachments must be provided in either Microsoft Word (.doc) or Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) format.
