- Description
- This is a notice of intent of the US Forest Service, Chugach National Forest, in Alaska, to negotiate a follow-on modification with Alaska Geographic, 810 E 9th Avenue, Anchorage AK 99501. The original requirement was synopsized on Federal Business Opportunities under AG-0120-S-09-0046, before purchase order, AG-0120-P-09-0057, was awarded on 28 May 2009 for $25,000. Services provided in the original scope of work included: the collection, editing and integration of content focused on Exxon Valdez oil spill researchers and community leaders in recovery efforts, stories of their work and related resources and services for a web-based, interpretive “geotourism-like” map-guide of Prince William Sound. Alaska Geographic co-sponsored the initial development and design of the Prince William Sound map-guide web portal. Purchase order AG-0120-P-09-0057 was issued as a continuation of that initial web-portal development. Services required under the modification include: Providing expertise and labor toward the enhancement of the Sound Stories website in four ways 1) increase the interactivity and functionality of the current website 2) the development of community resources to boost local story submissions and 3) draft a design of a paper map companion piece that compliments the website; and assuming funds are forthcoming 4) consultation, production and editing in preparation for final paper map printing through the USFS. The first two components were identified as a need based on initial reviews of website function and a comprehensive review of story content that was recently completed. The remaining components pertain to the creation of a companion paper map piece. The details of the map compilation recently came out of discussions with Alaska Geographic. The resulting paper map must be integrated in form, appearance, and content with the Sound Stories website that is being published and hosted by Alaska Geographic. The work and the award will occur in two phases with an initial award of $34,500, and, if funding becomes available, an additional $14,000 award to take the map through production. Alaska Geographic is the interpretive association for the US Forest Service and they are uniquely qualified to assist the Forest Service in supporting interpretation and education on the Chugach National Forest. Interested contractors may identify their interest and capability to this requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals and a package is not available. However, all capability statements received within 15 days after the date of publication of this notice will be considered by the Government. It will be within the government’s discretion not to compete this proposed contract modification based upon the responses to this notice. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
