- RECOVERY. THIS IS AN AMERICAN RECOVERY AND REINVESTMENT ACT of 2009 (ARRA) ACTION. This project is for Whitman Sundry TSI, thinning of approximately 3,570 acres and handpiling of approximately 85 acres. Contractor shall furnish all labor, equipment, supervision, transportation, operating supplies, inspections and incidentals in order to accomplish stand density management in the Sundry project area on the Whitman District of the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest. Material to be treated is composed of timber litter, selected standing dead trees 9 inches dbh or less and pre-commercial thinning debris, identified as fuel model 12, fuel amounts vary but are estimated at 0-3 feet in depth for a total of 5-30 tons per acre. It may be necessary to transport debri up to a 50 foot radius to meet pile size requirements. Solicitation is estimated to be posted around May 4, 2010 with quotes due June 4, 2010 at close of business. There will not be an official site visit, potential contractors are encouraged to visit the sites on their own between May 4 and June 4. All maps and additional information will be attached to the solicitation when posted. This is 100% set-aside for HubZone small business concerns. Due to the size of the project, it is anticipated that multiple awards will be made with work being completed concurrently. Estimated start work is June 2010 with completion time varying within 70-110 days depending on the area.
