Description
RECOVERY: This project is funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) and is subject to the requirements of the act. The full solicitation containing all information regarding this project will be posted on fedbizopps.gov on or about May 3, 2010. This project is located on the Prescott National Forest in Northern Arizona. The work consists of mechanical cutting, mastication and mulching treatment of approximately 5868 acres. The objective is to develop a fuelbreak system on the Prescott National Forest lands in and around communities in Prescott, Cherry, and Dewy-Humbolt, AZ. Fuelbreaks consist of numerous, various-sized and shaped treatment areas scattered across the project areas. Vegetation within the treatment areas are predominately a chaparral (brush) type. The contract period of performance is estimated to be 300 calendar days. If more than one contract is awarded, the contract time will be adjusted proportionately. A pre-bid tour will be conducted on May 11, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. starting at the Prescott Fire Center located at 2400 Melville Drive, Prescott, AZ. Contractors should notify Aaron Hulburd at 928-777-5666 of their intent to attend the pre-bid tour. No other formal pre-bid tour will be conducted. Driving Instruction to the Prescott Fire Center: General Location:South side of the Prescott Airport Phone Contact (Dispatch): (928) 777-5700 Phoenix Area to the Prescott Fire Center 1)I-17 north from Phoenix to exit at Milepost 262. (Cordes Junction) 2)West on SH69 towards Prescott. 3)Milepost 281 – first traffic light (intersection of SH69 and SH169) 4)From the junction of Highways 69 and 169 continue north on Highway 69 about three miles. Look for Fain Road which is the third traffic light. There will at the junction of Highway 69 and Fain road that directs you to the Prescott airport. There is a sign that says “Airport” and Chino Valley”. 5)Turn right (north) on Fain Road and travel approximately eight miles to the junction with State Highway 89A (first traffic light – go straight through the light). 6)Take Highway 89A west to the Larry Caldwell Drive exit (5-6 miles). 7)Take the Larry Caldwell Drive exit and turn right on top of the overpass. 8)Turn right at the “T” (you will be looking at the golf course). 9)You will then travel past the golf course and small industrial park. After one mile, you will see the airport tower. Turn right on the road just before the tower. There will be a brown sign just before the road that says Prescott Fire Center. The Fire Center is approximately 3/4 mile down the road, on the left. Flagstaff to the Prescott Fire Center VIA – Interstate 17 south through Camp Verde 1)From Flagstaff, go south on I-17 to the Cherry Road Exit (Highway 169). This is located approximately 10 miles south of Camp Verde. 2)Travel west (15 miles) on Highway 169 to its junction with Highway 69. There is a traffic light at this junction. 3)From this point, follow directions from #4 above. Interstate 40 south from Ashfork, AZ to Prescott Fire Center 1)In Ashfork, go south (approx. 40 miles) on State Highway 89 to Prescott. This will take you through the communities of Paulden and Chino Valley. 2)Once you have reached Prescott, go past the airport and the golf course to the intersection of SH 89 and Pioneer Parkway (SH 89A). 3)At the intersection of Pioneer Parkway, you will go under the overpass and immediately turn left onto Pioneer Parkway (SH 89A) northbound. Immediately get into the right hand lane because you will be taking the very first exit (Larry Caldwell Drive). 4)Take the Larry Caldwell Drive exit and turn left when you reach the stop sign. This will take you back over the overpass over Pioneer Parkway and towards the golf course. 5)From this point, follow directions from #8 above.
