Description
The Geological Survey has a requirement for a digital time-domain electromagnetic (TEM) receiver for use with an existing TEM system. The TEM receiver will be used with government owned Geonics EM-47 and EM-37 transmitters. Soundings will be made using government owned Geonics receiver coils designed for use with Geonics TEM receivers. Compatibility of the new digital TEM receiver with these devices is a requirement. The Geonics PROTEM digital time-domain electromagnetic receiver shall include:1. Receiver measures voltage coming from air-core receiver coils produced by time varying magnetic fields. 2. Receiver can record signals from up to three different components. This is done sequential, or can be done simultaneously with the addition of a hardware option. 3. Receiver dynamic range is 175 dB provided by 29-bit digitization. 4. Receiver can operate at base frequencies of 0.3, 0.75, 3.0, 7.5, 30, 75, or 285 Hz with a provision for modifying the frequencies a factor of 5/6-th for use in areas where power line frequencies are 50 Hz. 5. Receiver has can be operated with 20 time gates spanning 2 decades of time, or 30 gates spanning 3 decades of time. Nominal gates times span the range of 6.8 microseconds to 7.0 milliseconds for the highest receiver base frequency. Gate times are adjusted in proportion to the ratio of base frequencies. 6. Receiver provides a means of shifting all time gates by a fixed amount to allow positioning the times gates with respect to transmitter waveform. 7. Receiver allows selection of integration times of 0.5,2,4,8.15,30,60, or 120 seconds. 8. Synchronization of the receiver and transmitters maintained by use of a cable. A hardware option is available for crystal oscillator synchronization. 9. Receiver display is a graphic LCD with 240 x 64 bit resolution or better. 10. Receiver data logger uses solid-state memory to store 3300 data sets. RS232 output is provided. 11. Software and cables are provided for download of data logger software to a user provide PC. 12. Receiver powered by an internal 12 V rechargeable battery. A spare battery is required. A charger is provided. 13. Receiver is compatible with the following Geonics time-domain transmitters: TEM37, TEM47, and TEM57. Based on information available at this time, and in accordance with 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1), implemented by FAR 6.302-1, the Government considers this requirement specified as a sole source from Geonic Limited, 1745 Meyerside Drive, Unit B, Mississauga, Ontario, Canada L5T1C6 and proposes to negotiate a contract with that firm. However, should additional sources be identified, they will be considered. Firms who feel that they can furnish the required digital orthoimagery or its functional equivalent (based upon the criteria specified herein) are invited to submit in writing an affirmative response to this announcement. An affirmative response would include literature, brochures and such other materials, which correspond to the required items stated herein. This information will be evaluated and used to determine if competitive opportunities exist. Since no solicitation document exists, requests for such document without accompanying information will be considered non-responsive to this request without further consideration. This notice may represent the Government's only official notice to the procurement. Funds are not presently available for this contract. This requirement is a process to the point of award.
