- Description
- The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) intends to solicit and negotiate a sole source procurement with Morpho Detection International (MDI) in Newark, CA under authority of FAR 6.302-1 "Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements." The purpose of the sole source procurement is for the acquisition of Performance Based Logistics (PBL) services including preventative, corrective, and excepted maintenance actions to sustain deployed Explosive Detection Systems (EDS) equipment and other ancillary equipment. The TSA Office of Security Technology's Electronic Baggage Screening Program employs EDS as the primary security screening technology for screening checked baggage. EDS are sophisticated electronic screening devices and TSA has an obligation to maintain this equipment. The proposed contract will include these services on the entire existing operating fleet of government owned MDI EDS. The estimated ceiling for the resultant award is $529,800,000 for a five (5) year period. The estimated award date is three (3) months from the date of this announcement. This announcement is not a request for competitive quotations. No solicitation document is available and telephone inquiries will not be honored; however, interested and qualified parties may submit literature detailing their ability to meet TSA's requirements within five (5) calendar days of this announcement. In the absence of other qualified sources, it is the TSA's intent to make a sole source award.
