- RECOVERY - NASA LARC intends to conduct a competition among the existing multipleaward Flight Critical Systems Research (FCSR) contractors for a research effort entitled'Assessing the Impact that Software Health Management Technology will have on Qualifyingand Certifying Flight-Critical Aeronautics Software. The current FCSR contractors are: ARINC (NNL06AA03B); Boeing (NNL06AA04B), Honeywell (NNL06AA05B), ERA Systems Corporation(formerly Rannoch) (NNL06AA07B), and Lockheed Martin (NNL06AA08B). The required servicesinclude identifying existing regulatory guidance for flight critical aviation software;identifying existing system level safety assessments and certification considerations;identifying new initiatives for assuring the safety of flight critical software in theNext Generation Air Transportation System, and assessing the anticipated impact thatsoftware health management technologies might have on the existing and emerging assuranceframeworks identified.The proposed effort will be funded by American Recovery andReinvestment Act (ARRA) funding and is in support of the Aeronautics Research MissionDirection and the Aviation Safety Program.
