- This contract action was accomplished using other than competitive procedures because there is only one responsible source and no other supplies or service will satisfy agency requirements (FAR 6.302-1). See posted J&A for further information. The US Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District intends to award a sole source contract to Patriot Sensors & Controls Corp citing FAR 6.302-1 (B). To the best of the Government's knowledge, there are no other firms that can satisfy this requirement and a written solicitation will not be issued. The items to be procured are GEMCO brand rotary cam limit switches. A solution to improve reliability would be to retrofit the existing GEMCO rotary cam assembly with a metal cam assembly and eliminate the enamel cam assembly. These limit switches are necessary for the miter gates and the only way to retrofit the cam assembly is to utilize GEMCO metal cam assemblies because these units are all manufactured and designed by GEMCO and other type of manufactured units can not be utilized without a major rehab to the locks. THIS NOTICE IS NOT A COMPETITIVE REQUEST FOR QUOTES. A determination by the government not to open competition based responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government
