- NASA/GSFC has a requirement for 1 each PP6GT Precision Polishing Jig, 1 each halfcircle roller arm, 1 each cast iron lapping plate, 1 each lapping plate test block andshipping charges.NASA/GSFC intends to purchase the items from Logitech Limited only. NASA Goddard SpaceFlight Center's Detector Development Laboratory requires upgraded and duplicate equipmentfor its Logitech PM-5 lapper/polisher for four inch silicon wafers. Logitech can certifythat the components they provide will be compatible with installation on a PM-5, supporthandling of four inch wafers and be able to perform precision mechanical grinding withinthe original specifications of the PM-5 tool. New components direct from the supplier ofthe original tool have the best chance of meeting GSFC's requirements for high qualitygrinding.The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12.Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform theeffort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local timeon April 22, 2010. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for thepurpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and opencompetition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretionof the government.Authority is 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1) Only one responsible source.This procurement will be processed using FAR Part 13 Simplified Acquisition Procedures.This synopsis shall not be construed as a commitment by the Government, nor will thegovernment pay for the information solicited.Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice.All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency.An Ombudsman has been appointed.
