Description
Mr. Paul Garza April 9, 2010 Procurement Analyst Directorate of NAF Purchasing HQ Air Force Services Agency 10100 Reunion Place Suite 304 San Antonio, TX. 78216-4188 The Air Force Services Agency Policy and Procedure Division, in San Antonio, Texas are exploring opportunities to provide Air Force bases with transportation management services. This Request for Information (RFI) is extended to third party logistics interested in providing such services to Air Force installations at various locations worldwide. The Air Force Nonappropriated Funds Purchasing Office (AFNAFPO) operates as a central Nonappropriated purchasing office in supporting NAF activities worldwide and is part of the Air Force Services Agency. General areas of purchasing support for NAF activities include: Amusement machines, Interior Design, Aero Clubs, Bowling, Clubs, Golf, and Skills Development. We are interested in partnering with sources that can provide transportation operational services Air Force Wide to include broker services, warehousing, freight bill audit and payment, and freight claim management with customer satisfaction for our customers - the military and their families. Currently, each NAF Purchasing office worldwide handles their freight requirements. They identify the requirement and the source they are going to purchase from. The NAFI will inform the company to prepay and bill as a separate line item on the invoice or they will call a transportation carrier. They will issue an order and shipping instructions. Once merchandise is ready to be shipped, freight is acquired The contractor shall furnish transportation management services within the Continental United States (CONUS) to include carrier selection, negotiation of transportation contracts, scheduling inbound and outbound shipments, making arrangements for pickup and delivery, shipment tracking, audit and payment of freight bills, processing of claims, warehousing, consolidation and shipping operations. The property/freight to be moved shall consists of a variety of commodities being purchased for us e by the Government NAFI's except Class A and B explosives, hazardous wastes, radioactive article requiring a hazardous material label and household goods. This past fiscal year we shipped approximately 8,988,292 pounds of various items by LTL and Truck Load. The information received will be considered confidential and will not be disclosed without the express written consent of the supplier. This notice does not express or implies any intent to purchase any service or to enter into a contractual agreement. Any information provided will be at no cost to the Government. If your company is interested, please provide all information that is available on your proposed product to the above address no later than 23 April 2010. This RFI is for planning purposes only and shall not be construed as a request for proposal or as an obligation on the part of the Government to acquire any follow-on acquisitions. The Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of the RFI or otherwise pay for the information solicited. No entitlements to payment of direct or indirect costs or charges by the Government will arise as a result of a submission of responses to the RFI and Government use of such information.
