Description
NASA Ames Research Center announces the award of the Space Technology Research andDevelopment (STRAD) contract to ERC, Inc. located in Huntsville, AL. The contract will be performed at NASA AmesResearch Center, Moffett Field, Calif. The contract has a maximum value of $45 million.<P>This is a cost-plus, fixed-fee, indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity single awardcontract that begins April 1, 2010. The base contract lasts two years and has threeone-year options.<P>Under the terms of the contract, the company will support the Space Technology Divisionin the Office of the Director of Exploration Technology at NASA Ames, which developstechnologies used to design and fabricate prototype hypervelocity vehicles that travel inthe atmosphere of Earth and other bodies in the solar system. This office also isresponsible for making advances in nanotechnology, materials science, sensors anddevices. <P>The company will support NASA Ames in the following areas:-Understand the chemistry and physics of hypersonic, reacting and radiating flows;-Analyze the aerothermodynamics of entry systems and aeronautics and space vehicletrajectories-Develop, modify and apply computational fluid dynamics tools and quantumcomputing capabilities-Engineer ablative, reusable and multi-functional thermal protection materials andconduct materials science-Plan, execute and analyze experiments and test the thermodynamics of materials -Study the mechanisms of pre-biotic geochemistry -Provide educational outreach and internship employment opportunities that exposestudents to public service and enhance their educational experience in support of NASASTRAD program.<P> Information about major upcoming ARC procurement actions are available at:<P><AHREF='http://ec.msfc.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/eis/eis_apt.cgi'>http://ec.msfc.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/eis/eis_apt.cgi</A> '
