Description

Justification for Other than Full and Open Competition THIS NOTICE IS PROVIDED FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY UNDER THE AMERICAN RECOVERY AND REINVESTMENT ACT PROGRAM The prescribed contracting action is a modification to the CDC 2009 Adult Vaccine Contract (200-2009-30521). The Contractor, GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) Holdings (Americas) Inc., has requested that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) add thier recently FDA approved vaccine (Cervarix®) to the list of vaccines available for purchase through the referenced IDIQ contracting vehicle. Justification for other than full and open competition is considered based on the belief that GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) Holdings (Americas) Inc. is the only vaccine manufacturer who currently offers an FDA approved bivalent vaccine for protection against Human Papillomavirus (HPV).The authority cited for the planned sole-source acquisition is 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1), FAR 6.302-1, One Responsible Source.
