Description
**************************************************************************** Questions and Answers Modification #1 (Q) Can you state what the cables and wiring would be used for? (A) The cables and adapters will be used to interconnect microwave equipment operating between 1.7-8.5GHz (Q) Please clarify which male connector is called out on the three items below: 200 (ea) RF Cable SMA Male to Male RG-142 24" 200 (ea) RF Cable SMA Male to Male RG-142 36" 200 (ea) RF Cable SMA Male to Male RG-142 48" (A) All will be SMA Male to SMA Male RG-142 in 24, 36, 48 inches (Q) No RF specifications are called out. Parts such as N and SMA connectors come in several grades. One is a low grade good to a few GHz, then comes the standard grade good to 12 GHz, and then there is the high precision grade good to 18GHz. There is a big price difference between them. Based on the cables called out you are interested in the "standard" grade, but there are lots of vendors that will quote the lower grade. The same goes for the SMA 90 Degree, there is a sharp version good to 6GHz and then the radius bend good to 18 GHz (A) The FBI is seeking RF connectors and adapters in the standard grade, good to 12Ghz brass construction. As for the 90 degree SMA adapters, the FBI will accept the sharp turn type. (Q) The enduser might want to consider using RG400 instead of RG-142, the electrical specifications are the same. The difference is that RG400 has a stranded center conductor while RG-142 has a single silver plated steel center conductor. The benefit is increased flexibility. (A) The FBI is satisfied with the RG-142 type cable. The extra flexibility RG-400 gives is not critical nor significant. (Q) We don't think any vendor can supply all of these parts in 30 days. More realistic would be 1/2 in 30 days and all in 60 days. (A) The delivery time will be 60 days ARO (after receipt of order) with partial shipments accepted.
