- Description
- THE NASA GLENN RESEARCH CENTER (GRC) AWARDED UNDER THE AMERICAN RECOVERY ANDREINVESTMENT ACT OF 2009 A TASK ORDER FOR ENGINEERING SUPPORT SERVICES UNDER THEPREVIOUSLY AWARDED, COMPETITIVE 8(a) CONTRACT NNC06BA07B WITH ASRC AEROSPACE CORPORATION.
NASA Glenn Research Center (GRC) has committed support for specific efforts under theAmerican Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009. The specific area of support forthis task, per NASAs Recovery Act Program Plan for Aeronautics Research, Aviation SafetyProgram, is to provide enhanced models and higher fidelity simulations resulting in theability to qualify performance prediction uncertainty in realistic environments, andenable flight research of adaptive control technologies to prevent loss-of-control andmaintain NASAs flight test capabilities.
NASA/GRC has issued a task order under existing contract NNC06BA07B to procureengineering services to to develop turbofan engine simulations and controllers in theMATLAB/Simulink environment. This task is one of the coordinated NASA Recovery Act tasksto expand the simulation capabilities of a current engine simulation package. The outcomeof this task is to develop a simulation for enhanced turbofan engine capabilities forenhanced engine operations, such as over-thrust and fast transient response for emergencyoperations, in order to use the propulsion system to assist the aircraft to safe land anaircraft under adverse conditions.
THIS NOTICE IS PROVIDED FOR INFORMATION PURPOSES ONLY.
A CPAF order is appropriate for this procurement because of the uncertain nature of theresearch/testing support activities required cannot be estimated to the level of accuracynecessary to allow the use of a fixed-priced contractual vehicle.
