- Small Business Set-Aside GENERAL PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The purpose and intent of this contract is to secure services for pre-commercial thinning of approximately 275 acres of conifer reproduction, approximately 27 to 33 years old. The Contractor must furnish all labor, equipment, housing, subsistence, supervision, transportation, operating supplies, and incidentals except those items listed as Government-furnished property The performance period is 145 calendar days. PROJECT LOCATION: All items are on northeast Prince of Wales Island. Items 1-3 are in the Sweetwater Lake area, along Forest Roads 3030, 3030600 and 3030640. Prince of Wales Island is part of the Thorne Bay and Craig Ranger Districts, Tongass National Forest, Alaska. The project is approximately 24 air miles northwest of Thorne Bay and 4 air miles southwest of Coffman Cove. Ketchikan is accessible via Alaska Airlines and the Alaska Marine Highway System. Commercial floatplane services, based in Ketchikan, fly passengers and freight to communities and logging camps located on Prince of Wales Island. The Inter-Island Ferry system provides vehicle and passenger service between the Hollis ferry terminal on Prince of Wales Island and Ketchikan. A paved/gravel road system connects Hollis to most communities and logging camps located on Prince of Wales Island. During the winter months, only the roads connecting the communities of Hollis, Craig/Klawock, and Thorne Bay are maintained and passable. Barge lines in Seattle, Washington transport materials and equipment to Thorne Bay, Craig and Ketchikan. Because of the uniqueness of Southeast Alaska regarding access, logistics, and service points, it is strongly recommended that prospective Contractors adequately familiarize themselves with the area to help determine mobilization costs, living, and travel expenses. SOLICITATION INFORMATION: The solicitation will be posted on FedBizOpps website on or about April 7, 2010 for viewing and printing. Potential quoters are requested to obtain the solicitation from the Internet. If unable to successfully obtain the solicitation from the internet, then a hard copy of the solicitation documents may be requested via fax at 907-747-4289. Fax requests must reference solicitation number RFQ-AG-0116-S-10-0033. Telephone requests will not be honored. Quotes will be due approximately 30 calendar days after the solicitation issue date. AUTOMATIC NOTIFICATION: By registering to receive notification on posted synopses, you will be automatically notified via email of any changes to the project. To register, select Register to Receive Notification and follow the steps. Follow the same procedure for EACH project. PLAN HOLDERS LISTS: The Interested Vendors List (IVL) has replaced the plan Holders Lists that was previously available with solicitation packages. Access the IVL for all projects through the FedBizOpps website. To register as an interested vendor, select Register as an Interested Vendor and follow the steps. Follow this procedure for EACH project of interest. Use the Register as Interested Vendor option to add your company name to the IVL and then view or print the IVL by selecting View List of Interested Vendors for EACH project. IMPORTANT NOTE: In order to receive any contract award, Vendors must be registered in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) and Online Representations and Certifications Application (ORCA) databases.
