Description
The U. S. Army Research Development and Engineering Command (RDECOM) is seeking technical information on enhanced capacity Bailout Bottle system for use with the Armys Parachutist Oxygen Mask (POM). The Armys existing MFF parachutist oxygen system, which includes the POM, the American Safety Flight System (ASFS) Twin 50 and Twin 53 Bailout Bottle systems and 6-man portable oxygen console, provides the Military Free Fall (MFF) parachutist with supplemental oxygen at altitudes of up to 35,000-ft Mean Sea Level during the conduct of High Altitude Low Opening (HALO) and High Altitude High Opening (HAHO) MFF operations. The POM is a Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) item, Carleton Part Numbers: B47300-1, B47300-2, B47300-3 and B47300-4. The Bailout Bottle System shall be a self-contained, compact system whose increased capacity will enable the MFF jumper to remain at altitude for longer durations than possible with the existing ASFS Twin 50 and Twin 53 Bailout Bottle systems. The new system will consist of a lightweight oxygen cylinder or cylinders, a pressure reducer assembly and flexible low diameter oxygen supply hose. The Bailout Bottle System shall meet the following requirements: a.Weight (empty): 6 lbs. max b.Diameter: 4-in max. c.Length: 17-in max from end of canister to top of manifold d.Operating range: MFF environments of up to 35,000 ft MSL e.Temperature range: -60 deg F to 145 deg F f.Humidity: 0 to 100% non-condensing g.Internal pressure: 3,000 psi or above h.Output pressure: 50 psi at manifold with 70 psi override i.Provide 36-in flexible delivery hose with Quick Disconnect Assembly (QDA) 1/8-in connection j.Provide oxygen attachment point that provides ease of access to oxygen console hose QDA k.Possess pouch compatible with MC-4 parachute l.Be capable of storage in accordance with TM Standard m.Must pass fire hazard analysis.
