- Description
- In Scope Change Order for Repair and Refurbish of Cheatham Dam Intake Gates. The work shall consist of performing surface preparation on the lower third portion of gate one. The bottom third of gate one was responding differently to surface preparation and needed to be evaluated for a possible deviation to the original contract specifications. When blisters present on the surface of the gate were ruptured, the blisters revealed a black coating on the surface of the gate and the backside of the removed paint film. Further examination of the removed film confirmed the black coating not to be mil scale but an unknown coating releasing from the gate causing blisters on just the bottom portion of gate one. The Contractor shall use agents of a caustic blend to remove the existing paint. The Contractor shall remove 100% of the existing coating system from that third of gate one. The Contractor shall get approval from the Contracting Officer's representative that the existing paint surface has been thoroughly removed prior to applying any new paint.
