Description
Contractor shall provide all materials as per attached specifications to the Walker and Blackduck Ranger District offices. Delivery will be April 14 and April 15th as determined by the contractor to each office. Acceptable delivery hours are between 8:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Line item number three is hereby changed from a quantity of 312 to a quantity of 112 The following information and/or questions & answers are added for clarification: The wood and materials needed will be subject to outdoor weather conditions and will be used where human contact is possible, (although not sustained for long periods of time/hours) 1. Species and grade of solid sawn lumber? Softwood, construction grade; rough cut for 4 x4, and 6x6 and posts; softwood 2x10's No.2 or better 2. Should sawn lumber be free of wane? Appropriate with lumber grade used 3. Any restrictions on knot size? Appropriate with lumber grade used 4. Specie for plywood? Just cheapest? No species specified. 5. Treatment for posts, plywood and sawn lumber. What is acceptable? Should we base this on intended use? Treated wood that is approved for human contact, such as ACQ (Alkaline copper quat) or CA (Copper azole). CCA (Chromated copper arsenate) not to be used. 6. Will plywood be in contact with the ground? No. 7. Delivery will be made by commercial flatbed truck. What are your unloading capabilities at both jobsites? We typically require the customer to provide mechanized unloading. The job site at Blackduck Ranger District has a "loading" ramp to facilitate unloading of trucks, including the flatbed. The job site at Walker Ranger District does not. Typically, hand unloading is performed @ Walker. Forklift possible but would require mobilization from Cass Lake Supervisor's office to either Blackduck or Walker and would require communications between vendor and unit before delivery. 8. Do you require the hardware to be galvanized? Yes 9. Should the round posts be peeled? Yes 10. Do you require the round posts to be turned on a lathe for exact uniform diameter or is natural taper acceptable? Natural taper is acceptable. 1. What type of treatment would you like for the lumber? Treated wood that is approved for human contact, such as ACQ (Alkaline copper quat) or CA (Copper azole). CCA (Chromated copper arsenate) not to be used. 2. What species of wood are you looking for? softwood generally used for intended applications. 3. What thickness of plywood do you need? 3/4"
